TRAINING
After completing his Bachelor of medicine and Bachelor of surgery having attained Dean’s honours and Dux of physiology & Biochemistry, Gold Coast Urologist Dr Elmes, completed his general surgical training at the Alfred, Austin and Western hospitals in Melbourne.
His urology interests began in 2001 with residency and assisting surgically at a multitude of operations. He furthered his urological training with a Doctorate of Medicine investigating benign & malignant prostate immunology and presenting multiple clinical papers at state and international levels.
Martin completed his advanced urological surgery training in NSW, having passed his fellowship exams with distinction.
INTERESTS & EXPERTISE
After attaining his FRACS (Urol) Dr Elmes spent a further year refining sub speciality techniques at the largest urological training hospital in Sydney. He was invited to complete a complex kidney stone surgery & open and minimally invasive urological cancer surgery fellowship under world experts.
In 2012, Dr Elmes was invited to undertake a complex kidney stone surgery and open and minimally invasive urological cancer surgery Fellowship led by world experts. He was the first ever fellow to use the Da Vinci robot in the state of the art theatres at Nepean hospital - the largest Urological training hospital in NSW are still the only public sector Robotics hospital in NSW.

TEACHING / RESEARCH
Dr Elmes has spent over 15 years teaching and training today’s medical students, junior doctors and surgeons.
He was an honorary lecturer and tutor at the Austin hospital clinical school and the University of Melbourne. He continues to teach both senior urological trainees at the Tweed and John Flynn hospitals.
He is well known on the local airways, featuring on 4CRB talkback segments on a regular basis about Men's Health and has been a guest speaker at the Prostate cancer foundation support group.
Dr Gerard Bray - Urology Registrar
Dr Gerard Bray is an Urology trainee with the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ). He graduated from James Cook University in 2018 and has since undertaken broad clinical training across multiple hospital settings.
Stephanie Harms - Practice Manager

Stephanie is an experienced Practice Manager who has extensive knowledge in all aspects of practice management and administration. She is passionate about her work, and dedicated to helping our patients needs. Stephanie has over 15 years experience as a practice manager.

Zoe - Practice Nurse

Zoe is a compassionate and meticulous experienced Registered Nurse who works closely with Dr Elmes to provide patient centred quality nursing and health care. She has over 15 years of hospital nursing experience including caring for Urology patients Pre and Post surgery over the past 5 years. Zoe is available to answer your clinical questions and provides Pre and Postoperative patient care. Zoe’s nursing is guided by warmth, empathy and effective communication.
Keeta - Medical Receptionist

Keeta has worked in the medical field in management and senior receptionist roles for over 20 years. She understands what a friendly voice in an anxious time can do to ease patients minds, knowing they have contacted the right team with the best surgeon who puts their needs first.
Previously working for a Colorectal and General Surgeon, she has now joined the team at Gold Coast Urologist and loves being one of the first points of contacts to make your journey clear and professional from referral to resolution.
